I know a guy who has a picture of himself eating a spoonful of ice cream served in the cup. Just a prank by Kevin Lowe one of the years the Oilers won it: He brought it home to Lachute, where his family owns a dairy, and serves up the best ice cream you ever tasted. Still going today, Lowe's Dairy is just about worth the trip from places like Trois Rivieres, Ottawa, Cornwall, certainly Montreal, maybe even Kingston!
I once asked Patrick Roy if the thing was "light as a feather" when you hoist it and take it for that big skate around the ice. He said "No. It's heavy, and you just skate around saying "Maudit thing. Don't drop it. Don't drop it. Don't drop it. Don't drop it. Don't drop it. Don't drop it. Don't drop it. Don't drop it. Give it to someone else- Aaah...
Apropos of nothing, I was just thinking: "Fuhrer" is German for "guide". If IANO had a hefty person working in his shop, and someone blocked his passage, would IANO say "Make way for the fat fuhrer"? I betcha he would
Viewing this on my iPod I can only say...dazzling. Just dazzling.
ReplyDeleteOkay, now that I've watched it, I'm just horrified...you guys dinged up the Stanley Cup!?
ReplyDelete(Yeah, yeah, I know, it was a Canadian in NL BUT he's a Bruin so...)
*gasp*
