Good Old Route 117

So I'm reading Bemisdown's blog the other day about her getting pulled over for speeding and it reminded me of the time I got pulled over back in the 1980s.

(I just felt everyone's eyes rolling up inside their heads)

Telling someone a speeding story is somewhat like telling someone a dream story....they don't much care.

But I'm gonna tell ya anyhow.

It happened on Rt. 117. All you need to know about RT. 117 is that either it's clogged with traffic and you can't speed even if you wanted to OR it's empty and you can't help but speed. It's a fun road when it's empty. Ask Bacon Ace or Hoag or Cousin Saul.

I was going fast when the cop pulled me over. Here is the conversation that followed:

COP: "License, registration blahblahblah"

ME: "Here ya go."

COP: "Why are you going so fast?"

ME: "My wife is making Chicken Parmiagana."

COP: "Well, you better get going then...."

ME: "Thank you."

Damn Rt 117. Mrs Bacon Ace and I have been pulled over way too many times on that road. Though I usually deserved it.

My father WAS the Stow Police, albeit, that was back in 1969 when he was about 21 years old...

But since he grew up in Stow he was also pulled over waaay too many times by the Stow Po-Po.

He was once pulled over because he was alerting oncoming cars to slow down because the police were down the road. The cop asked him if he thought he was Paul Revere.

did he?

Let's put it this way; he still travels with lanterns in his car.

Mrs. Bacon Ace's dad is Green Lantern?

Cool!!!!!

So all I had to do was tell the cop that my wife was making chicken parm?

Bemisdown said...

mrs.bacon ace,

Bet your dad pulled my dad over.

Or at least helped him get a tow when one of his "like brand spankin new" cars ended up on the side of Rt. 117 with smoke and flames coming out of its engine.

Such beautiful memories.....

By the way Stuckwith....

If you hold the cheese on chicken parm, then it's just chicken. With some sauce.

Oh nevermind.

Bemisdown--

The last time I ordered a chicken parm calzone, they made it with no cheese. Seriously.

Did you get a good look at the cook? Does SWAC have an alibi for that night?

Just curious...

Bemisdown said...

lois lane,

Sigh.

Cheese is an essential ingrediant to almost ANY dish.

Except cereal. (Which I'm especially gifted at making, by the way.)

SWAC is missing out big time.

Cake,

SWAC ALWAYS has an alibi.....

Yes Cake,
I've finally arrived. And it's only been like 7 months. Though I'm sure it feels much longer to you.

Bemis:

SWAC always has an alibi? Good to know. And, yes, cereal is about the only thing that isn't improved by cheese.

Bacon Ace:

Time moves slower in Canada. Something to do with the tundra. Or maybe it's just the exchange rate...I'm not sure.
