Just seeing those three words brings a smile to your face.
You can picture the butter flowing into the nooks. The crannies. The crunch. The taste. The Heaven.
Maybe a dollop of peanut butter.
Back when I was a kid my Mom usually bought the dreaded 'store brand' as Thomas' were deemed too expensive. Or something.
Every once in a while she would treat us and buy Thomas'. You know, the english muffin that the rich kids ate.
But wanna know something?
(And I've been keeping this quiet for the last few months because I thought it was just me.)
But old Uncle Thomas has changed his recipe or something because these Thomas' English Muffins are small and are lacking the nook. Lacking the cranny. They're hard to cut in half. They don't brown up nice in the toaster. They're a tad on the 'mealy' side. They're horrible. Possibly the worst english muffin on the market.
They probably had to do something to cut down on costs and thought they could just coast on their rep.
But they can't.
Thomas' English Muffins are dead to me. Bland and boring. And dead.
MORAL OF THE STORY?
Don't mess with my muffins!

damn, steve...i'm SO with you on this. i'm such an english muffin fanatic. there is Thomas' that's not bad...it's the Whole Grain Original. Not bad at all.
I agree. And Joe's right, the Whole Grain version is better than the original these days.
And now I'm craving English muffins. Dammit...why didn't you post this before I went to the grocery store this morning?
The Thomas' whole grain muffins especially fall flat. Literally.
Big Y brand english muffins are more soft and poofy, like a certain person's hair. I suggest those.
We just call English muffins, 'muffins'.

The size of the "new" Thomas' Light multi-grain English Muffin is outrageous! It resembles a child's-sized portion of food. I realize the economy is bad but making smaller portions only makes me look for another brand. I burn my fingers every time I retrieve the muffins from the toaster. I loved these muffins and ate them every morning. No more for me.

I say we all get ourselves some Thomas's and dump them into Boston Harbor. I'll be happy to organize since I live in the area. Of course, we'll have to do this under cover of darkness since the EPA will place us all under arrest for polluting the already disgusting water.
I too thought it was just me. But indeed there is something going on with Thomas. Ditto to all the posted comments. I guess the company has told us long time customers to go to Hades trying to improve the bottom line. May be best at this point to buy the generic brand.
I stopped buying Thomas's English muffins a few years ago, when I realized they were longer the same as I remembered them back in the 70's.
I used to looove them..
Now, they are much smaller, don't taste right, and are just awful.
