"He was smiling... That's right. You know, that, that Luke smile of his. He had it on his face right to the very end. Hell, if they didn't know it 'fore, they could tell right then that they weren't a-gonna beat him. That old Luke smile. Oh, Luke. He was some boy. Cool Hand Luke. Hell, he's a natural-born world-shaker."
I'm sad. But, ya know what? I think he really enjoyed life, had a great life, and lived it just exactly as he wanted to. That's somethin' to smile about. I think he also tried to do good in the world, and I think he succeeded.

"I couldn't do that. Could you do that? Why can they do it? Who are those guys?"
"I have vision and the rest of the world wears bifocals."
Oh! Those steely-blue eyes! RIP

Condolences, Steve...I know Cool Hand Luke is one of your favorite movies. Mine as well.
Just watched "The Sting" this weekend, too. Sigh.
It's been a tough year for children who are fans of the movie "Cars" -- first Lightning McQueen attemps suicide and now Doc Hudson is dead...
I loved Newman in "The Hudsucker Proxy", a great overlooked film.
